An internally mounted flange facer mounts inside the flange bore. It is mounted inside the flange, so the inner wall of the flange may be damaged when the internally mounted flange facer was installed.
On site flange facing machine tools will make sure the sealing faces on the end plate on the tube bundle are in good condition by machining the corrosion, pitting, scratches and distortion to complete the integrity of the flange joint. Even the front and back sealing faces on the flange should be machined by the flange facing machines.

Internal flange facer use a heat exchanger mounting kit.
These kits work using bolts and expanding toggles that fit inside the heat exchanger tubes. But the tube still got risks of the ‘perceived’ risk of damage to the inside of the tubes.
